Obi-Wan’s Jedi Starfighter with Firing Missile Launchers
This is an Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor. Obi-wan used this one in the Battle of Utapau, after destroying the one with maroon markings in the Battle Over Coruscant (in the beginning of Revenge of the Sith). This Utapau version of the Eta-2 was made in 2014. The Coruscant version was made in 2007. I obtained both of them around the time of their release date.
This Utapau version is smaller and has less features than the larger 2007 Coruscant version. The wings of the Coruscant version pop open on command via a small trigger on the underside– the wings on this Utapau version only open manually. Also, the R2 unit on the Coruscant version is removable, and you can put an actual 3.75 astromech droid figure into its place. The droid in this Utapau version is not removable. Another difference between the two releases is that the Coruscant version has retractable landing gear, while the Utapau version doesn’t have landing gear. Both variants have two actual firing torpedos, and cockpits that open up with seat space for one 3.75 inch action figure.
I remember when I ordered this one online, thinking it was a great price to add to my collection of Jedi Starfighters– but was disappointed to find the size difference, and lessor features when it arrived. Still, the Eta-2 is my favorite of the Jedi Starfighters– I especially love how close it is to the eventual design of Vader’s Tie-fighter in a New Hope.
